ABOUT, BIO & FAQ

Jon is a semi-retired largely self-taught photographer who lives and works in London. His particular interest is in portraiture/life style, art photography, but also in photography for marketing purposes, photo projects, photo restoration/basic retouch and in furtography, especially of dogs. At the moment this is a gallery of his photography only, and he is not planning to do any shoots till summer 2025. As and when Jon starts doing photography again, and if Jon contacts you, a shoot could be for free, and same if this was to be photography (furtography) with a good looking dog/canine or feline. More info in FAQ’s below. Thanks for looking on here. PS Jona Photography is a bespoke service that you will not find on social media. It does not plant cookies on your computer. It is not registered with Google or any tech giants. Intentionally. Aim is primarily to create something a little bit different, interesting or beautiful, without a primary profit or other motive. As per your requirements or collaboratively created.

FAQ

If you want to, yes, on an upper terrace, but not indoors as it could trigger the fire alarm, please.

For sake of brevity, I work to the standards expected of a professional photographer. I would not share your data with others except where this would be reasonably necessary, like in order to use a service to send you your images, manage any payments, etc. Your images are your images, but in case of anything of exceptional interest or quality is produced I ask you for permission to be able to use work that would help to show what I am capable of producing as a photographer, as proof that I was the photographer, and for no other purpose, unless otherwise agreed.

These things can happen. No problem, if cancellation is not in last 48 hours. It takes time to prepare for a shoot, so no return of deposit, if within last 48 hours, and unless a subsequent date for a shoot takes place and is completed. Hope you’ll understand.

Secure off street parking might be possible.

See under “What if I have to reschedule”, above.

JONA does not do photography with anyone below the age of 18 unless accompanied by a verifiable parent or even two. Having a friend along could help, but could also slow things down? If that is your plan, please give advance notice.

For highest quality and especially for more creative and fashion work, this is likely best. But it depends on what photography is to be done and budget. JONA could arrange for make-up artist (MUA), stylist, hair stylist, and assistant photographers, if needed.

People often do. Alternatively a make-up artist could also be booked and be part of the shoot, at an extra cost starting from approx. £100. Negotiable.

Yes, in small discretely watermarked JPG format, within 24 hours of shoot.

Definitely. We can discuss what you need. Very reasonable rates.

If I have not done a shoot with you before, yes please. £25 which comes off agreed fee for the completed shoot.

Yes, definitely, plus at end of the shoot you can review the camera memory card and delete anything you don’t want saved. It is important that you are able to see what is being produced as we go along.

Yes, of course. It is far from unusual to feel nervous before a shoot, esp if it is with someone you have never met before. To have a good half hour to chat before a shoot starts can help all round, and could be best time to review shoot ideas (mood board) and agree priorities.

This can be done in SHOP on this website. Rate for a shoot varies depending on time and location, etc. Again, very reasonable rates. Very happy to chat about your requirements.

Absolutely. Different styles and moods work well and are often best, to help produce breadth and range.

The galleries on this profile cover the range of photography I would generally be interested to do. Keen at some point to produce and design a CD cover, food photography, architecture, more themed work, and to cover some music events.

Mostly this service is for portraiture (for individuals or agencies), creatives, corporate and product image, but is also be for families and pets. Depends on requirements.

JONA provides a full copy of all images in JPG format within 24 hours, where at all possible. An email address would be necessary for this. Edited images are generally produced and provided from this website within seven days, max and normally faster.

Try to avoid alcohol for three days before a shoot, and generally to make sure to have hydrated well. Try and get good sleep. Clean facial skin helps with portraiture. Clothing rules are to be broken? Dress in a way that fits with the image of yourself that you want to convey, in two or three different styles, including a smart casual? Most effective could be to wear at least something that might seem like swimming against the tide. If possible something bit different and distinct. But depends on what works best for you.

To be able to show a range of expressions can help a LOT. But to be honest, the best images can be the spontaneous ones, accidents of timing, and the more quirky and natural ones. If say 600 images are taken and 90% is no good…so what? That would still leave 60 that are high quality, and more than would likely ever be edited. What is not good (most of it in all probability) we could simply agree to delete. But this is just a guide. Whatever works for you.

Generally it’s good to avoid showing any logos, and to avoid fabrics with heavy patterns, checks and designs that could distract from attention to you, unless that is an agreed theme in the shoot?

Mobile phones off is generally best?

If you have music you’d like to have played, please bring what could be blue-toothed or on CD?

Coffee or tea breaks etc whenever.

If it is necessary for you to cancel or reschedule your photo shoot, please notify giving at least 48 hours notice. If you cancel or reschedule less than 48 hours before the session time, or do not appear for the session, your deposit would be refunded only discretionary and not by guarantee. Thank you for understanding.

The camera will be handed to you at regular intervals during the shoot, so you can see what is being produced as we go along. You would be sent a link to your JONA online gallery within 24 hours.

Its absolutely fine to arrive ten minutes early and I would be able to let you in, but if you come earlier I might still be getting ready, so you might have to briefly wait in a local café.

Directions will be provided, based on where you are coming from. Google Maps or similar using post code? This area is very well served by public transport.
